LOUISIANA'S
General InfoThe Lafayette Recreation and Parks Department is proud to be the permanent sponsor for this Program in Louisiana. Along with the help and cooperation of the Lafayette Consolidated Government and the Louisiana Recreation and Parks Association, with all of its members, we are pleased to offer the Premiere Youth Athletic Program in the world to the young men and women in Louisiana. Local competitions are held throughout the State by various Recreation and Parks Departments, through Elementary Physical Education classes and several Civic organizations. This Program introduces children between the ages of 7 and 14 to physical fitness through basic track and field events, encouraging them to be the best they possibly can be. Louisiana implemented this Program in 1978 when it became a National Program. It has grown to the point of having more than 500,000 children participating each year from more than 3000 communities throughout the United States and Canada. For more information about this Program please visit the Hershey's Youth Program website at www.hersheystrackandfield.com or contact the Louisiana State Chairman, Frank Wittenberg. Key Benefits
Hershey's Fast Track to SportsIn 2007 the Hershey Company created a fantastic, new training packet of lesson plans to be used in conjunction with this Program. This kit helps to better train young athletes in basic skills needed for any type of sport by using the Track & Field Games Program as a basis for the skill development they will need. The kit uses lessons from several Olympic Athletes as well as Educators and Coaches to demonstrate these techniques. Please choose the following link to see a preview of the DVD from this kit: Hershey's FastTrack to Sports Intro For more information please go to the website at www.hersheystrackandfield.com
